Sprint Event: A Showcase of Speed and Precision
The sprint event on Saturday was a masterclass in speed and technical execution.
- Women’s Sprint: POMOCA star Emily Harrop dominated the course with a remarkable finish in 3:17, securing her third consecutive win. Her performance was highlighted by a 13-second lead over fellow POMOCA athlete Lena Bonnel, who claimed the runner-up spot and announced her arrival on the podium with flair.
- Men’s Sprint: On the men’s side, POMOCA athlete Oriol Cardonna emerged victorious in a fiercely contested race. Competing against the dense swiss field, Oriol fended off a robust challenge from Swiss duo Robin Bussard and Arno Lietha!
Mixed Relay: Intensity and Team Spirit
In Sunday's mixed relay event, the Swiss team annihilated the competition by throwing themselves into the race from the start. Led by Caroline Ulrich in the first relay, they took a 10-second lead, leaving all the others trailing behind. While the Swiss maintained their dominant position, an intense battle raged between Austria and Spain, with both teams vying fiercely for every metre of the podium. In a high-risk manoeuvre on the final run, Oriol Cardon pulled off an incredible downhill overtake on Austria's Paul Verbnjak, propelling his team into second place.
In the overall World Cup standings, the men and women have narrowed the gaps as they fight for every point. In the men's ranking, Thibault Anselmet leads with 481 points, closely followed by Rémi Bonnet with 400 points. Maximilien Drion du Chapois is in third place with 359 points, Oriol Cardona Coll is just behind with 353 points and Robin Bussard rounds out the top five with 332 points.
On the women's side, Emily Harrop dominated with an impressive 651 points, establishing herself as the best performer of the season. She is followed by Célia Perillat-Pessey with 429 points, while Axelle Gachet-Mollaret takes third place with 400 points. Johanna Hiemer followed with 346 points, Léna Bonnel took fifth place with 327 points, and Marianne Fatton rounded off the top six with 296 points.
